La Casa de Satoshi

Bitcoin community space and coworking in Mexico City, hosting monthly beginner events, BitDevs, and networking.

La Casa de Satoshi is a dedicated Bitcoin community space and coworking hub in Mexico City. Launched in 2024 by Santiago Varela and Max Schatz, it provides a permanent physical home for Mexico City's growing Bitcoin community -- a place to learn, work, and connect around Bitcoin.

Overview

As one of the few purpose-built Bitcoin spaces in Mexico, La Casa de Satoshi fills a gap in Latin America's largest metropolitan area. The space is designed to be welcoming to newcomers while also serving the needs of experienced Bitcoiners and developers. Gustavo Flores organizes the local BitDevs sessions, bringing technical rigor to the community's programming.

The space has attracted notable visitors from the global Bitcoin community, including Jeff Booth (author of The Price of Tomorrow), Preston Pysh (host of The Investor's Podcast), and Jimmy Song (Bitcoin developer and educator).

Activities

La Casa de Satoshi runs a structured monthly calendar of recurring events:

  • Bitcoin 101: Held on the second Tuesday of each month, this beginner-friendly session covers Bitcoin fundamentals for newcomers.
  • BitDevs: On the last Thursday of each month, developers and technically-minded Bitcoiners gather for structured discussion of protocol developments and open-source projects.
  • Saturday Coffee: Informal weekend gatherings for conversation and networking over coffee.
  • Special Events: Guest speakers, workshops, and celebrations tied to Bitcoin milestones or visiting community figures.

Events are coordinated through their website, making it easy for locals and visitors to find upcoming gatherings.

Significance

Mexico City is one of Latin America's most important economic hubs, and La Casa de Satoshi gives the city a dedicated anchor for Bitcoin culture. By combining beginner education with developer-focused BitDevs, the space serves the full spectrum of the Bitcoin community and helps build the infrastructure for broader adoption in Mexico.
