Club Satoshi

First Bitcoin community in Tucuman, Argentina, promoting education and circular economy adoption.

Club Satoshi is the first Bitcoin community in the province of Tucuman, in northwestern Argentina. Founded around 2023, the group brings together Bitcoiners in the region to learn, teach, and build a local circular economy around Bitcoin and the Lightning Network.

Overview

Based in San Miguel de Tucuman, Club Satoshi operates as a grassroots community focused on Bitcoin education and real-world adoption. The group organizes weekly meetups where participants discuss Bitcoin fundamentals, practice self-custody, and explore how to integrate Lightning payments into everyday commerce. Their goal is to make Bitcoin accessible and practical for ordinary people in a region historically underserved by the Buenos Aires-centric Argentine tech ecosystem.

Activities

Club Satoshi holds regular weekly meetups combining education with hands-on practice. The community is part of Cruzada21, a program organized by La Crypta and Veintiuno that equips Latin American Bitcoin communities with infrastructure -- including a full Bitcoin node, 15 point-of-sale terminals, and 200 NFC cards for Lightning payments. This kit enables Club Satoshi to onboard local merchants and build a functioning circular economy.

The community participated in LABITCONF 2025, connecting with the broader Latin American Bitcoin ecosystem and sharing their experience building adoption from the ground up in a provincial Argentine city.

Significance

Club Satoshi demonstrates that Bitcoin adoption in Argentina extends well beyond Buenos Aires. By establishing the first organized Bitcoin community in Tucuman, the group is proving that grassroots education and merchant onboarding can take root in smaller cities where the effects of Argentina's monetary instability are often felt most acutely.
