Satoshi Somos Todos

Bitcoin education and freedom community based in the Dominican Republic, spreading Bitcoin knowledge across the Caribbean.

Satoshi Somos Todos ("We Are All Satoshi") is a Bitcoin education and freedom community based in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Founded in 2024 by Emmanuel "Tokio" Fermin and his wife Sandra, the group works to spread Bitcoin knowledge across the Caribbean, grounding its mission in the conviction that Bitcoin is a tool for individual freedom and financial sovereignty.

Overview

The community's name encapsulates its philosophy: Satoshi Nakamoto's identity remains unknown because Bitcoin belongs to everyone. Satoshi Somos Todos operates on this principle, focusing on education that empowers individuals to take control of their own finances without relying on intermediaries. Based in the Dominican Republic -- a country with a growing but still developing financial system and significant remittance flows from its diaspora -- the community sees Bitcoin and the Lightning Network as tools with immediate practical relevance.

Satoshi Somos Todos is part of Cruzada21, a program organized by La Crypta and Veintiuno that equips Latin American Bitcoin communities with infrastructure including a full Bitcoin node, point-of-sale terminals, and NFC cards for Lightning payments.

Activities

The community organizes educational meetups and workshops in Santo Domingo, covering Bitcoin fundamentals, self-custody, Lightning payments, and the broader philosophical case for sound money. Sessions are designed to be accessible to newcomers while also fostering deeper discussion among experienced Bitcoiners. The group maintains an active online presence through social media and messaging channels, connecting Dominican Bitcoiners and sharing Spanish-language educational content. The community also hosts "Satoshi Xpace," a recurring Twitter/YouTube space for live discussion.

Satoshi Somos Todos has driven remarkable merchant adoption in the Samana peninsula, growing from 65 to 115 merchants accepting Bitcoin in just three months. This surge helped the Dominican Republic reach 4th place worldwide among the most active Bitcoin communities on BTC Map.

Significance

The Dominican Republic receives over $10 billion annually in remittances, primarily from the United States. Bitcoin and Lightning offer a faster, cheaper alternative to traditional remittance services, giving communities like Satoshi Somos Todos a concrete use case to build around. By combining practical remittance-relevant education with a broader freedom-oriented message, the community is cultivating Bitcoin adoption in one of the Caribbean's largest economies.

In 2025, Emmanuel Fermin founded the Federacion Latinoamericana de Bitcoiners, an umbrella organization uniting approximately 22 Bitcoin projects across 16 Latin American countries. The Federation launched the Bitcoin Diplomacy program in partnership with Bitcoin Lab Bolivia, with the inaugural class in January 2026 drawing 350 attendees to its first session.
